Scriptwriting is everywhere!!

I had the pleasure to work camera for the Indiana Wesleyan University Telesale several times this week. During the times in which my camera wasn't live I tried to watch a lot of the rest of the show. I was so surprised that the majority of what was said was scripted. The talent either had script in their hands or read every word on the teleprompter. I know Dr. King has said how everything is scripted, but for some reason I am just beginning to realize it. I also have realized how we have to write conversationally. Much of the time I was watching Telesale I had to remind myself that they were just having a conversation, but it was written in the script. I hope to continue watching the media and seeing how important scriptwriting is.

Strike coming to an end?

The WGA Writer's Strike has greatly impacted the television industry and the entertainment industry as a whole. The strike began on November 5, 2007 and has been on individuals minds for months now. I know I know I am one of many who have missed their favorite show a few times, because of the Writer's Strike. Although this is frustrating for both the viewer and the writer, an agreement may have been reached. Last Saturday, the LA Times reported that writers and studios may have reached an agreement. The last major issue is a negotiation for compensation pertaining to TV shows streamed online. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it seems that both sides have reached an agreement. Hopefully we will hear more about an agreement in the next week or so. I don't know about you, but I am ready to watch new episodes of my favorite shows again.
